Life-size Gundam Robot in Odaiba

Odaiba is a man-made island that lies in Tokyo Bay. Many people visit here for the number of shopping malls, restaurants, and entertainment options that surround the area. But the main reason Bern and I wanted to check out Odaiba was to see up close the 60 foot Gundam robot. In order to get to the island, we had to board a trolley in Tokyo and cross the Rainbow Bridge that looks very similar to the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco (expect for the color).

Once there, we took some great shots of the Tokyo skyline.

And even this replica of the Statue of Liberty...only now did I realize how ironic it was that I was wearing my Team Japan World Cup jersey (opps! haha)

Before getting to the Gundam Robot, we ate some lunch and shopped around a bit at one of the shopping centers.

Just a quick side note, the Krispy Kreme here in Japan is a bit different than the ones back in the states. In addition to the usual flavors, they also offer green tea & even tuna salad donuts to cater to the Japanese taste buds.

Towards the end of the afternoon, we made it to the life-sized Gundam Robot that was located at the Diver City mall. Gundam is a very popular Japanese animated series that started back in the 1980's. At different times of the day, the robot does turn on by moving its' head which was kind of a let down because I was hoping it would at least move it's arms as well. But seeing a huge robot in person was something really cool even though I never really followed the show.
