Yokohama Bay Stars game with Chris

We were so happy when Bern's brother Chris recently got stationed here in Yokosuka a few months ago. Chris was actually stationed here a few years back around 2007 but due to the nature of his work in the Navy, he was never able to watch a baseball game so Bern and I decided to make that a priority back in September. This was our first time to check out a game in Yokohama Stadium which is only about a 40 minute train ride away. The Baystars are the closest professional baseball team to Yokosuka so we were all excited to root on our home team.

It was a rainy day but that didn't stop all the pregame festivities from happening. To our surprise, a beer fest was going on where craft breweries from all over Japan where selling their finest ales.

The Baystars were going up against the Hiroshima Carps which have uniforms similar to the Cincinnati Reds of MLB so the stadium was a sea of blue & red. We were sitting on the 3rd base line which happened to be the visiting side but the Carps fans around us were all very respectful!

Of course the food options are a bit different at Japanese baseball games...on a rainy night why not have ramen??

And just like the other baseball game we went to in Chiba last year, the seventh inning is for letting go of elongated balloons that make a high-pitched noise when released. A bit strange not to be singing "Take me out to the ballgame" but still a sight to see!

We had a great time at the game and look forward to spending more time with our brother when he returns from deployment in November....we planned a four day trip to Seoul, South Korea to celebrate Thanksgiving. Can't wait!
